The Maria Steinbach pilgrimage church in Legau is an important attraction for pilgrims and tourists in the Unterallgäu district.
It was built in Rococo style in 1749 and houses a miraculous image of Our Lady of Sorrows, which has attracted a large influx of believers. The church enables both the pilgrimage to Our Lady of Sorrows and the original pilgrimage to the Holy Cross.
Due to its construction on a hill, the pilgrimage church is clearly visible from afar and thus sets a strong architectural accent on the border between Upper Swabia and Allgäu. Those who visit the pilgrimage church can reach the destinations of the pilgrims on the penitentiary path with several small chapels from Lautrach and Legau.
